Fred Ogle Memorial and Lynley MacDonald Cycling Event 2022

The Fred Ogle Memorial and Lynley MacDonald Cycling event for 2022 proved another enjoyable day for all the participants. With distances ranging from 12.5 to 110 kilometers, there was an event for everyone. The weather was fantastic, and traffic management throughout the course meant riders could enjoy the beautiful countryside with the added comfort of knowing that other road users were aware of their presence. Organisers, Whangarei Marsden Wheelers, had enlisted support from many local businesses. Every category included prize money and there was a huge range of spot prizes.

Entry fees included a snack and drink at the end provided by the Handsome Frog caravan. The event start and finish was held at the Mangakahia Sports Complex – an ideal location to relax and enjoy the post-event analysis before the prize giving.

The whole event was well run and provided a safe fun environment for everyone from the first timers, and e-bikers through to sleek fast road racers. Support was close by from St Johns and the Northland Road Safety team. More photos of the day can be found on the event’s Facebook page.
