As part of Aotearoa Bike Challenge we have teamed up with Northland Road Safety, Whangarei District Council and the Northland Road Safety Trust to host some activities and giveaway.
His Worship the Mayor visited us at the Bike Park to get some lessons on how to ride a bike safely and navigate the rail crossings on the Te Kamo Shared path. You can check out his progress here.
We kicked off February with a free Bike Maintenance Workshop outside the new Whangarei District Council building, Te Iwitahi. We fixed a flat tyre, checked over a bike dragged out of the shed for the first time in months, helped get some pedals off an old bike, and find some fiddly little parts for a flapping mudguard. We ran a dropin session at the Bike Park to answer any cycle related questions, and gave out over forty coffee vouchers to commuters riding their bikes to work.
And there is still more…. February 14th will see us at the Bike Park for Valentines day hosting a ‘Love your bike workshop’ from 4-6pm. On the 15th we will be there again from 9am – 12pm and will be joined by a ity link bus – a chance to come and practice putting your bike on the bus racks without fear of holding anyone up!
