Pohe island Bike Park – Rules and Etiquette

General Rules – all areas of the bike park

  • Helmets should be worn at all times
  • Both the Circuit Track and the Pump Track should be ridden anti-clockwise only
  • No animals or motorised vehicles on the tracks
  • Be aware of and respect other users at all times
  • Parts of the facility may be closed to public use when pre-booked for an exclusive activity
  • Riders use at their own risk
  • WDC promote smoke-free and vape-free at the Bike Park, in the interest of protecting the environment and everyone’s health. Smoke Free and Vape Free Policy 
  1. Circuit Track
  • Cyclists and small-wheeled non-motorised vehicles only
  • Ride in one direction only. Follow arrows (anticlockwise)
  • Keep left. Overtake on right and notify other users as you come by.
  • Faster riders are responsible for passing safely
  • Take care when overtaking
  • Always wear a helmet
  • Ride within your limits and be considerate to all users
  • Pack it in Pack it out – Take your rubbish with you
  • People using this facility do so at their own risk
  • Track use may be restricted for safety reasons during special events
  • It is the responsibility of any pedestrian to give way to riders at all times except in an emergency. Extreme care is required when crossing the track.
  1. Pump Track
  • Ride in the direction of the arrows (anticlockwise)
  • Always wear a helmet and covered shoes
  • Check your equipment is safe.
  • Beginner and intermediate riders should use the Western track (nearest to BMX)
  • Respect other users
  • Always ride within your abilities
  • Stay aware and alert. Be mindful of points where different track sections join.
  • Stay off the inside of the banks and planted areas
  • Do not stop on the track
  • If you come off move to the platform area as quickly as possible.
  • No Dogs
  • Parents must supervise young children and ensure they follow these rules and guidelines
  • People using this facility do so at their own risk
