Road Safety Week – 2022

Road Safety week happens every year in May. It is a national event promoting road safety awareness.

The theme this year was Road Safety Heroes and took place between 9-15 May, recognizing all those who work to make our roads safer. Schools, Police, ACC, Waka Kotahi, and Bike Northland were amongst the many groups of people involved in all aspects of road safety who joined in with the campaign.

Pedestrian crossing monitors got dressed up, students wrote thank you letters and a group of passionate advocates walked around the Town Basin in central Whangarei to raise awareness for the week and the part we can all play in reducing the number of fatalities and serious injuries on our roads each year.  It was a glorious day, and plenty of people were engaged in conversations and giveaways.
