Whananaki School Pump track an asset for the whole community.

Whananaki School has built a concrete track right around their school with a point-to-point pump track in the middle. Because the track is asphalt and concrete it can be used by bikes, scooters, and skateboards.  We took them some helmets thanks to BikeOn Trust so the kids can all have a helmet to wear when they are doing their stuff on the track. The students gave us a wonderful thank you and waiata, and then showed us what they can do on their track.

Funding from BikeOn Trust has also enabled the school to purchase some bikes to join their fleet of surf skateboards, drift trikes, and scooters. In the six months, this track has been open the kid’s skills have improved greatly. New signage around the school also helps educate the students about road signs and how to share the space with other users.
